Recovery Related to Vocalization and Swallowing After Tracheostomy

Tracheostomy refers to a surgical incision created in the neck allow direct air entry into trachea bypassing upper respiratory tract including oral and nasal cavities. Normal vocalization swallowing are limited immediately postoperatively; however, gradual recovery of function can be initiated, following improvement causative condition that necessitated tracheostomy. Duration tracheostomy depends upon patient’s condition, degree after tube removal varies widely across patients.
